Having just entered the Electronic Dance Music scene a few years ago, Steve Narvaez aka The R.O.A.R. has already produced and remixed tracks for some of the BIGGEST DANCE MUSIC LABELS in the world with tracks out on ULTRA RECORDS, and SPINNIN RECORDS.
Coming from a long love affair with ROCK, The R.O.A.R. saw the writing on the wall 5 years ago when he started his electo-rock duo The Fire and Reason with pop starlet BELLA SAONA (Ultra Records). The transition from ROCK to EDM was done as much out of curiosity as it was out of necessity, with clubs and fans alike leaving the rock clubs for the dance clubs, a sea change was coming.
His tenure with The Fire and Reason saw awards (LOGO TV New Now Next Brink of Fame Music Artist), World Tours (UK Festivals, L.A., Miami), and wide scale exposure with music on TV for shows on MTV, VH1, The CW, and many more channels.
The time was right to step out from behind the Producer/DJ booth, and re-introduce himself as an artist. Starting with a sMASH UP series last summer, where he combined different songs/genres into BRAND NEW HYBRIDS, his Kanye West x Jay-Z x The Cure sMASH UP “Why I Love You Song”, got front page attention from EARMILK.COM, who said that “it just sounded perfect” and garnered over 10K plays on soundcloud and youtube. A new sound and idea was forming. Taking the epic power and emotional rawness of ROCK and splicing it with the latest Electronic Dance Music beats. What would Empire of the Sun sound like if they got faded over a Flosstradamus or Baauer Electro-Trap beat? How about if Interpol got jacked up by Munchi or Nadastrom, and found themselves singing over a Moombahton rhythm? This was the impetus for the “I AM THE R.O.A.R. EP.”
Simultaneously combining varying styles and genres to tell a very personal story the songs started to emerge quickly and fervently. Each song had its own voice, from the Electro-Rock strut of “She’s Outta Control”, to the titillating Chopped and Moombah-grooves of “Exactly what your doing to me”, ruminations on life, love, and sex play out over various EDM genres and sub-genres. The emotional pinnacles of “Touch Down” and “Emotion32” finally put into words and music the feelings of a recent love lost, but still not gone. Remixes from Moombahton frontrunners Kid Cedek and Chooky round out the EP. Equal parts body moving as heart moving, the I AM THE R.O.A.R. EP is Steve’s quintessential MUSICAL statement.
